Project Coordinator Intern

Job Summary

Americas Residential, a division of ASSA ABLOY, is seeking a highly motivated Project Coordinator Intern to work in our headquarter office in Lake Forest, CA. This role will offer you the opportunity to be a part of a global company and a market leader in residential smart locks.

 

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical intern interested in project management, process improvement, and cross-functional collaboration to support our electronic lock product development portfolio and data analysis. Must be available to work onsite in our Lake Forest office 3 days a week for our hybrid schedule – Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Will be remote Mondays and Fridays.

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Support the development of a project data and metrics platform to track schedule milestones, resource needs, and other portfolio attributes
  • Assist in collecting, organizing, and standardizing historical project information to improve visibility and decision-making
  • Help develop and maintain a centralized lessons-learned repository that is structured, searchable, and easy for teams to reuse
  • Understand and document how different engineering and functional teams currently conduct product development and look for ways of optimization
  • Identify gaps, overlaps, and opportunities for improved alignment and standardization across JIRA workflows
  • Provide general project coordination and analytical support for PMO initiatives as needed

 

Education and Experience

 

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Business, Operations of a related field.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Interest in project management, process improvement, and cross-functional ways of working
  • Strong critical thinking, research, and problem-structuring skills
  • Familiarity with Excel; exposure to Gantt-based scheduling tools (e.g., MS Project) is a plus
  • Exposure to Atlassian tools (JIRA, Confluence) or Power BI is a plus but not required

 

Work Environment

  • Working conditions are normal for an office environment.
  • Hybrid work in our Lake Forest Headquarter office at least 3 days/week.
