Sr. Mechanical Engineer

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and innovative Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the design and development of products within the Mechanical Locks category. This role is responsible for driving new product development from concept through production launch, solving complex engineering challenges, and delivering customer-focused solutions. In addition to leading new initiatives, the engineer will support sustaining engineering and cost improvement efforts, ensuring continued product excellence and operational efficiency. The position requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams to meet technical, business, and customer requirements.

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Product Development & Innovation: Lead the design and development of innovative mechanical products from concept through production.  Translate customer requirements and market insights into engineering specifications and product features. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Marketing, Sales, Manufacturing, and Quality to ensure alignment on product goals and deliverables.
  • Design Validation and Testing: Create and evaluate prototypes to validate design concepts and reduce technical risk. Apply design for manufacturability (DFM), design for assembly (DFA), and design for Six Sigma (DFSS) principles to ensure robust and cost-effective solutions. Conduct design reviews, DFMEA, and risk assessments to ensure product reliability and compliance with standards.
  • Sustaining and Cost Improvement: Provide ongoing engineering support for existing products to ensure continued performance, reliability, and compliance. Investigate and resolve field complaints and product failures through root cause analysis and corrective actions. Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities through design optimization, material substitution, and process improvements. Partner with sourcing and manufacturing teams to evaluate alternative suppliers and production methods.
  • Project Management: Develop and manage timelines for engineering deliverables. Track multiple priorities and ensure timely execution of projects.

 

Minimum Qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering

• Minimum 3 years of engineering experience

• Proficiency in Creo Parametric or SolidWorks

• Strong hands-on technical skills and problem-solving abilities

• Experience with manufacturing processes: stamping, die casting, molding, machining

• Excellent project management and communication skills

• Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and external vendors

• Experience resolving field complaints and troubleshooting

  • Positive can-do attitude

 

Additional Desired Qualification

  • Understanding of Design for Six Sigma
  • Experience in designing high volume consumer goods

 

Work Environment:

Working conditions are normal for an office environment.

 

Pay Range: $76,482-$120,186.

 

This “base salary range” is a reasonable estimate for this position at the time of posting. Pay within each range is based on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, to primary work job-related knowledge, skills, experience, business requirements and geographic location.
